Get Set for the Annual Oakland Marathon on Sunday, April 2, 2017

Gear up and join the 10,000+ marathon runners from all over the country as they take to the many diverse streets of Oakland, CA. Recognized nationally as the “Bay Area race to run” by Competitor Magazine, the Oakland Running Festival features five distinct races for all ages and stages including a Kids Run, Bank of the West 5K, four-person relay, Kaiser Permanente half marathon, and marathon. This year, the event is scheduled for Sunday April 2nd, 2017, marking its eighth year in Oakland.

The Oakland Marathon route will highlight the city’s picturesque neighborhoods including downtown, Piedmont, Temescal, Montclair, Claremont, Fruitvale, and wrapping it up at the beautiful Lake Merritt where runners will be rewarded with a party – Oaktown style.

 Participants must register for the Oakland Marathon prior to the event on Sunday April 2nd, 2017. Online registration closes Sunday March 30th, 2017, so be sure to register today.

The Oakland Marathon route is open seven hours for participants, beginning at 7:00 am. Runners will meet at East Shore Park near Lake Merritt (located at the cross streets of Lakeshore Ave and El Embarcadero, Oakland CA 94606). This year’s event will no longer use chips, but instead will implement the new B-tag technology for time recording. B-Tags are attached to the participants’ bibs and marked with a corresponding bib number to help streamline the process. Please note that the Oakland Running Festival promotes a headphone-free environment for the duration of all their races.
