October 24, 2018
Category: Things to do in Oakland

With Halloween just around the corner, Oakland’s got some exciting, family-friendly events stirred up. We guarantee adults will enjoy it just as much as the kids!

Boo at the Zoo –Oakland Zoo
Oakland Zoo • 9777 Golf Links Rd • Oakland, CA 94605 • (510) 632-9525
Oakland Zoo’s annual Halloween event takes place on October 27-28 from 10:00am – 3:00pm. Guests attending the zoo-wide event will enjoy yummy treats, a spooky train ride, face paintings, a dance party, animal interactions, and plenty of Halloween-themed activities. Those who dress up in a costume will also receive a free ride ticket!

Alameda Point Pumpkin Patch
Speer Family Farms • 2453 Hancock St • Alameda, CA 94501 • (510) 705-2352
The Speer Family Farms is owned by local Oakland natives, and offers a wide selection of pumpkins at an unbeatable price. Best of all, there are endless activities for children including bounce houses, slides, petting zoo, mazes, zipline, and much more. Open daily from 10:00am-10:00pm until Halloween day, be sure to check it out (and in case you need some “grown up” time, there is a distillery nearby)!

Dog Fest Walk ‘N Roll Bay Area
Jack London Square • Broadway • Oakland, CA 94607 • (510) 645-9292
On October 27, bring your furry friends for an exciting day of Halloween-themed festivities, dog shows, meeting assistance dogs and puppies in training, pet shopping from local vendors, pet caricatures drawings, a costume contest, plenty of beer and food, and much more.  Best of all, you’ll be supporting the Canine Companions for Independence, placing assistance dogs with those in need. The tail-wagging fun begins at 11:00am, and registration is free.

Lake Merritt Oakland 5K: Hella-Ween
Lake Merritt Pergola • 599 El Embarcadero • Oakland, CA 94610 • (510) 371-5273
If you’ve attended any of the above events and still have some energy in you, join in on a dusk run along the beautiful Lake Merritt. On October 27, runners are encouraged to come dressed in their most creative costumes. This fun and untimed evening 5K run/walk is to be enjoyed from 3:00pm-8:00pm.
